5 Ways to Spring into the New Season

Updated: Mar 11

Just as it does every year, Miss Winter is coming to an end, and bringing in the freshness of Spring. Bring in the new season in a positive way by trying out some of the recommendations below.

Digital Detox

Use Spring as a reason to disconnect from technology and connect with nature. It's always good to try and live in the moment more than allowing our phones to consume us, and Spring can help us do just that. It's a rebirth of Earth, all of nature waking after the Winter slumber. The days are getting longer which means more sunshine! Rejuvenate yourself in the sun, start going on walks, listen to the birds, and just be more present in the now! Allow your body to recharge from the hassle of everyday life, and the 'expectations' you have on yourself from social media.

Revitalize your living space

It's always good to do a deep spring cleaning of your space. Get rid of things that no longer serve a purpose, and ask yourself "Do I need this? Why do I have this?" You can try the method of making three piles; keep, donate, and toss. Do not overwhelm yourself by trying to declutter your whole house, start in the most lived-in areas such as your bedroom or living room. Once you have cleaned out the old, you have space for the new. Add some new feng shui by including new decorations, it could be nice to add some plants and bring a touch of nature inside.

Establish new healthy habits

You never need a reason to start incorporating new habits into your daily routine, but Spring can be used as a motivator to help you do so. Take advantage of the nice weather and try to go for one walk a day. Go sit by the water and start reading that book you've been wanting to pick up but just cannot seem to start. Fruits such as apricots, blueberries, cherries, lemons and mango are in season during Spring. Just as asparagus, carrots, radishes and spinach are the vegetables in this season. Try and incorporate more of these foods into your daily meals. Do what you can at your own pace, to better your lifestyle.

Create a springtime playlist

This one speaks for itself, create a playlist of uplifting and energizing songs that resonate with the spirit of spring. If you are having trouble coming up with songs, you can go on YouTube and search 'Springtime playlist' to gain inspiration.

Environmental Consciousness

We only have one planet Earth, it's important to nourish and care for her. Make sure you are recycling properly. Buy only what you need so you do not contribute to overconsumption. Think about switching to reusable items such as water bottles, shopping bags, and containers that are more ecofriendly. If you can, opt for taking public transportation or carpooling instead of driving alone. Give back to the Earth by joining local clean up events or lending a hand in your community garden.

It is never too late to start something new. Do not let the fear of the unknown stop you from exploring the beauty life has to offer us. The only thing holding you back... is you. Be kind to yourself and others and remember you matter.
